Summer Blues

A few friends have asked me why I usually wear sunglass in all my pictures. One simple answer: it is because I feel like I always look tired! Juggling a 10 month old, work, and everything at home gets exhausting! I shouldn’t complain because thankfully, Zara is pretty great. But I now have a whole new appreciation for my own mom, I only hope to be as amazing to Zara!

I took a couple days off from blogging to catch up on a few things and reconnect with family and friends! My house is finally clean and organized (lets see how long this will last)! I also was super excited to catch up with a few friends last week, and my family on the weekend.

On the style: with summer soon coming to an end, I want to maximize wearing my colored pants! I paired blue pants from Zara, with a black and white blouse from Mango, I topped it off with some edgy heels.

Hope you guys are having a great week!

Minty Fresh

This past weekend my family and I took a trip to New York City! We went to visit family and celebrate our 6 year wedding anniversary! We have been to NYC a bunch of times before, but let me just say NYC with a baby is a whole different experience –  but in a good way! We did some shopping, ate at many different places, but also did some kid friendly things like Central Park, and visited FAO Schwarz. We were moving at a much slower pace – but it was still nice.

Zara is almost 10 months now, crawling and discovering new things everyday (she is currently climbing on me trying to reach the computer keys!) So when we flew to NYC I was a little nervous on how she would react on the plane, thankfully she played and fell asleep. I’ll post pics later this week!

On the style – Its not a secret that I love business casual outfits, and the color green!  So when I found this blouse at The Limited  I was super excited. I matched it with green cropped pants from Jcrew, heels, and a few gold accessories.

Neutral Tones

I hope everyone had a great weekend! This was a fun one for my family and I! Ramadan is a time of year where you want to be close with family, friends and community! Growing up in Michigan during Ramadan we  spent every weekend going to Iftar parties. So when we moved to Chicago 4 years ago I wanted to make sure we kept up with the traditions.  On Friday we hosted our Iftar party. It was great to see most of our friends here in Chicago. We of course had Iftar, dinner and dessert, but I wanted to add a few personal touches! I found a great sign off of Etsy from Optical Designs- that said “Keep Calm its Ramadan” . I also made date pops! I found the recipe from this awesome blog based in Dallas, TX called “Honey and Dates”. FInally I added some Ramadan decor around the hall from Ranoon.com.

On the Style: The funny thing is, when you start style blogging, you want to go through your closet to see what you have and what you think will look great when you put it together with different outfits. I bought these yellow snake skin design shoes from BCBG generation so long ago. I forgot I had them, so when I found them again – I wanted to plan an outfit around them!  I love neutral tones. So for this outfit I paired these fabulous cargo pants from Zara with a loose fitting tank and a tweed jacket that I picked up at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! In some of the pictures, I’m carrying Baby Z’s Diaper bag (can’t leave home without it)!

Green Peplum + My Popinjay

For Mother’s Day this year I got a Popinjay Quilted Kufic fold-over bag. I love it so much that I planned an outfit to go with it! I’ve said it before- I love a fit and flare peplum top – I think its very flattering, and I love the color green. I feel green really compliments my skin tone. So a green peplum fit and flare top – is a win-win situation in my book! For this style I paired it with black faux leather pants and peep toe booties!

Got the blues

It is July 1st! Can you believe half the year is already over – where has the time gone? I’m gearing up for the long weekend, as usual we will head to Michigan to spend sometime with family and friends, have BBQ and enjoy some fireworks. Can’t wait!

The pants to tops ratio in my closet is disproportional, I have way too many pants and not enough shirts to match them all. But that didn’t stop me from getting these pleated front jogger pants! I’m always a little weary of pleated front pants because I am only 5’2  and it sometimes just doesn’t look right. But when I tried these on I loved them!

For this look, I paired the jogger pants with a blue blouse, a blue floral blazer, pretty heels, and a few gold accessories, including a statement piece!

Pink Peplum

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope you had a great weekend. Here is the outfit I previewed on Instagram on Friday.

Since I was little, I’ve always loved the color pink. Its such a fun and vibrant color. So when I found these pants at H&M (on sale!) I grabbed them. They are great because they are a trouser pants, so I can dress them up for work, or dress them down for a summer BBQ. On this occasion I dressed it up with a black peplum top, and a statement piece. I love peplum tops, its very figure flattering- as it is fitted then flares out.

This weekend was also the start of Ramadan! Ramadan Kareem to everyone who observes this month. Suhail and I were a little more excited to celebrate this year because its Zara’s first Ramadan. So we had an extra special Iftar (breaking of the fast), the first day. We had a few friends over and dressed Zara up. Its great celebrating a bunch of firsts with a baby!

Summer Luau

Happy Monday Everyone,

So this weekend my husband and I began to tackle cleaning out our apartment. We were late with spring cleaning this year – so I guess now we are summer cleaning. Anyway, in the midst of us cleaning we realized we are in need of a living room makeover. We have great furniture, but we definitely need to spruce it up! Not to mention we have all the baby stuff (jumparoo, baby swing, high chair, bouncer….the list is endless) that we need to work around. Some of the furniture we had previously we got rid of because we didn’t want Baby Z to get hurt. How do you make your living space modern and chic, at the same time baby friendly? It our new project over the next few weeks – I will be sure to keep giving updates!

On the look, I wore this outfit a few weeks back for my nieces first birthday party – It was a luau themed party. I wanted something easy and that I could run around in because Baby Z was with me. So I chose to wear colored pants – I love colored pants, I have so many different ones. I feel like you can dress them up or dress them down with any top! I chose these peach colored pants with a floral top and flats! I dressed it up with a gold necklace and bracelets. What different colored pant do you have?

Bright Color Summer Chic

After living in Chicago for  4 years- my lists of restaurants I want to try is getting longer and longer. This past weekend I finally visited  Carnivale. I know, I’m late in trying it out, but its been on my list from the very beginning! The ambiance was so bright and colorful, the food was delicious, the company was awesome, not to mention the cotton candy for dessert. It was totally worth the wait! What are some of the restaurants you want to try?

On the style – If you can’t tell by now, I love blouses! This blouse is from a past season from Akira Chicago. I love the orange and blue stripes. I paired it with my favorite white Joes jeans, a tan belt, and wedges. I also wore a Laura Lombardi Necklace. I love her pieces – they are so trendy yet elegant.

Summer Floral

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope everyone had a great Fathers day weekend. This was the first weekend in a long time that Suhail, Z and I stayed in Chicago. Can I just say…I have a love hate relationship with Chicago. I hate it in the winter when the temperature is like -12, but I LOVE it in the summer. Nothing beats Chicago summers. The weather this past weekend was absolutely perfect. We spent a good amount of time outdoors this weekend with Baby Z – we took her for a stroll in her new CityMini Stroller (she finally fits in it) and visited the park – she loved the baby swing! How did you guys spend your Fathers day weekend?

On the style, I’m not a huge floral person – but I loved this Forever 21 top – the blue flowers were calling my name! I paired it with jeans, A tan belt and heels and an olive green bag (an amazing Nordstrom Rack find!). I thought the colors went well together – all earthy tones.

Easy Clean Casual

Hi All,

Here are the details on one of my favorite looks that I had posted on my instragram last week – The easy clean casual look! I love a great fitting chambray shirt. It is a great addition to any wardrobe. A chambray shirt can be styled so many different ways and looks great! With this look I paired my top with my favorite white jeans from joes jeans. It’s after Memorial day so white jeans/pants are a GO!
