Military Vest

So I have been horrible keeping up with the blog lately. I told myself  that I shouldn’t post until I sat down to properly to put one together. Well that took forever – so I am currently typing with one hand, and holding Zara with the other. She has been a little sick the past few days so I’ve been chasing her around with fluids trying to keep her hydrated. She is getting better day by day.

Can you believe its October?!?!? I sure can’t. October is a special month for me -because it is the month Zara was born! She will be one next week. I can’t believe how fast time flies and how much life can change in just one year! We’ve been planning her birthday bash – I will let you guys in on the the deets soon!

On the style –  It’s not my most glamourous outfit but it is one of my favorite! I wore this when I made a quick run the Mariano’s and had the hubs take a quick few shots. I love layering clothes – as you can tell from my last three posts – i’ve been vesting it up lately! Its probably just another reason why I love fall. I found this military vest at the new Nordstrom Rack in Southloop and I fell in love with it. I paired it with a white tee, jeans and booties.

Happy belated Labor day all!

I hope you guys have been well. I took a small break from blogging to enjoy some time with my family! If you guys follow me on Instagram (@Hashtagglamour) – you probably know that I was in Philly for most of last week for my cousins wedding. It was a blast. I always feel exhausted but centered when I come back from a family reunion. Exhausted, because we usually stay up really late every night catching up and chatting about old times. Centered, because I really believe family is where the heart is! I was fortunate enough to grow up in a close knit family – where my cousins were around all the time. So it is always nice to see them – its like going back to my roots. Plus, it was the first time many of my aunts, uncles and cousins met Zara – so it made me really happy to see how much love everyone had for her.

Enough of the mushy gushiness! Although I’m sad to see summer go – I’m super excited about the fall! Fall is one of my favorite seasons. This week I am going to start posting some of my favorite summer/fall transitionary looks! So stay tunned!

On the style: I bought these pants last year from Banana Republic on super sale! When I went to Philly and my cousin threw an amazing Carnival party (WITH HORSES!!) I busted them out! I matched the pants with a simple white shirt, a tribal looking statement piece from Anthropology, and tan booties. I was going for an overall chic tribal look!

I hope you guys have a fantastic week!

Aqua Blue

Todays look is one I would wear when I am on the go! Those are the days you want to keep it as easy and casual, but still look chic! For those days I always turn to a couple go-to pieces in my closet. With the weather being a little chilly I chose a pretty aqua blue drape sweater and paired it with a tank, grey jeans, a scarf, and flat sandals.

Neutral Tones

I hope everyone had a great weekend! This was a fun one for my family and I! Ramadan is a time of year where you want to be close with family, friends and community! Growing up in Michigan during Ramadan we  spent every weekend going to Iftar parties. So when we moved to Chicago 4 years ago I wanted to make sure we kept up with the traditions.  On Friday we hosted our Iftar party. It was great to see most of our friends here in Chicago. We of course had Iftar, dinner and dessert, but I wanted to add a few personal touches! I found a great sign off of Etsy from Optical Designs- that said “Keep Calm its Ramadan” . I also made date pops! I found the recipe from this awesome blog based in Dallas, TX called “Honey and Dates”. FInally I added some Ramadan decor around the hall from Ranoon.com.

On the Style: The funny thing is, when you start style blogging, you want to go through your closet to see what you have and what you think will look great when you put it together with different outfits. I bought these yellow snake skin design shoes from BCBG generation so long ago. I forgot I had them, so when I found them again – I wanted to plan an outfit around them!  I love neutral tones. So for this outfit I paired these fabulous cargo pants from Zara with a loose fitting tank and a tweed jacket that I picked up at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! In some of the pictures, I’m carrying Baby Z’s Diaper bag (can’t leave home without it)!

Black and Blue

Happy Wednesday Everyone (or should I say mom since she is probably the only one reading the blog since I went MIA). I apologize! Its been a crazy week with vacation, work, Ramadan, and overall life in general! But I’m back and ready! I have fun projects and updates that I am excited to share with you soon. Did you guys get a chance to check out the Nordstrom Anniversary sale? I went the first day and grabbed some awesome additions to my wardrobe that I will post on the blog in the next couple of weeks!

On the style – So this top is actually a shirt dress and  a fabulous find from Nordstrom Rack! I usually wear this dress to work with a pair of tights. I thought I would experiment with it a little – so I tucked it in to my favorite white pants, and paired it with blue heels. I dressed it up with a gold necklace and accessories. Its a great look to wear to work or dress up to wear to a dinner party! blackandblue1blackandblueblackandblue2blackandblue3

Got the blues

It is July 1st! Can you believe half the year is already over – where has the time gone? I’m gearing up for the long weekend, as usual we will head to Michigan to spend sometime with family and friends, have BBQ and enjoy some fireworks. Can’t wait!

The pants to tops ratio in my closet is disproportional, I have way too many pants and not enough shirts to match them all. But that didn’t stop me from getting these pleated front jogger pants! I’m always a little weary of pleated front pants because I am only 5’2  and it sometimes just doesn’t look right. But when I tried these on I loved them!

For this look, I paired the jogger pants with a blue blouse, a blue floral blazer, pretty heels, and a few gold accessories, including a statement piece!

Summer Luau

Happy Monday Everyone,

So this weekend my husband and I began to tackle cleaning out our apartment. We were late with spring cleaning this year – so I guess now we are summer cleaning. Anyway, in the midst of us cleaning we realized we are in need of a living room makeover. We have great furniture, but we definitely need to spruce it up! Not to mention we have all the baby stuff (jumparoo, baby swing, high chair, bouncer….the list is endless) that we need to work around. Some of the furniture we had previously we got rid of because we didn’t want Baby Z to get hurt. How do you make your living space modern and chic, at the same time baby friendly? It our new project over the next few weeks – I will be sure to keep giving updates!

On the look, I wore this outfit a few weeks back for my nieces first birthday party – It was a luau themed party. I wanted something easy and that I could run around in because Baby Z was with me. So I chose to wear colored pants – I love colored pants, I have so many different ones. I feel like you can dress them up or dress them down with any top! I chose these peach colored pants with a floral top and flats! I dressed it up with a gold necklace and bracelets. What different colored pant do you have?

Summer Floral

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope everyone had a great Fathers day weekend. This was the first weekend in a long time that Suhail, Z and I stayed in Chicago. Can I just say…I have a love hate relationship with Chicago. I hate it in the winter when the temperature is like -12, but I LOVE it in the summer. Nothing beats Chicago summers. The weather this past weekend was absolutely perfect. We spent a good amount of time outdoors this weekend with Baby Z – we took her for a stroll in her new CityMini Stroller (she finally fits in it) and visited the park – she loved the baby swing! How did you guys spend your Fathers day weekend?

On the style, I’m not a huge floral person – but I loved this Forever 21 top – the blue flowers were calling my name! I paired it with jeans, A tan belt and heels and an olive green bag (an amazing Nordstrom Rack find!). I thought the colors went well together – all earthy tones.
