Aqua Blue

Todays look is one I would wear when I am on the go! Those are the days you want to keep it as easy and casual, but still look chic! For those days I always turn to a couple go-to pieces in my closet. With the weather being a little chilly I chose a pretty aqua blue drape sweater and paired it with a tank, grey jeans, a scarf, and flat sandals.

Neutral Tones

I hope everyone had a great weekend! This was a fun one for my family and I! Ramadan is a time of year where you want to be close with family, friends and community! Growing up in Michigan during Ramadan we  spent every weekend going to Iftar parties. So when we moved to Chicago 4 years ago I wanted to make sure we kept up with the traditions.  On Friday we hosted our Iftar party. It was great to see most of our friends here in Chicago. We of course had Iftar, dinner and dessert, but I wanted to add a few personal touches! I found a great sign off of Etsy from Optical Designs- that said “Keep Calm its Ramadan” . I also made date pops! I found the recipe from this awesome blog based in Dallas, TX called “Honey and Dates”. FInally I added some Ramadan decor around the hall from Ranoon.com.

On the Style: The funny thing is, when you start style blogging, you want to go through your closet to see what you have and what you think will look great when you put it together with different outfits. I bought these yellow snake skin design shoes from BCBG generation so long ago. I forgot I had them, so when I found them again – I wanted to plan an outfit around them!  I love neutral tones. So for this outfit I paired these fabulous cargo pants from Zara with a loose fitting tank and a tweed jacket that I picked up at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! In some of the pictures, I’m carrying Baby Z’s Diaper bag (can’t leave home without it)!

Black and Blue

Happy Wednesday Everyone (or should I say mom since she is probably the only one reading the blog since I went MIA). I apologize! Its been a crazy week with vacation, work, Ramadan, and overall life in general! But I’m back and ready! I have fun projects and updates that I am excited to share with you soon. Did you guys get a chance to check out the Nordstrom Anniversary sale? I went the first day and grabbed some awesome additions to my wardrobe that I will post on the blog in the next couple of weeks!

On the style – So this top is actually a shirt dress and  a fabulous find from Nordstrom Rack! I usually wear this dress to work with a pair of tights. I thought I would experiment with it a little – so I tucked it in to my favorite white pants, and paired it with blue heels. I dressed it up with a gold necklace and accessories. Its a great look to wear to work or dress up to wear to a dinner party! blackandblue1blackandblueblackandblue2blackandblue3

Friday Funday

Hi Everyone!

Hope you had a great 4th of July weekend! We spent another weekend in Michigan with both my family and my husbands family. Zara spent some quality time with both sides, which was great. The weekend was filled with relaxing, food, and of course fireworks! The worst part  of the whole weekend was spending 3 hours in traffic on 94 getting home.

Before we left Friday, Suhail, Zara and I stopped by the Roosevelt Collection in the South Loop to pick up a few things before heading out. We had no idea how awesome the area was getting with all the new restaurants and stores. I’m loving all the new development in South Loop!  We snapped a few pictures while we were there. When we are traveling I love wearing something easy and comfortable – like a maxi dress! I paired the maxi with a jean jacket and sandals -Its an easy chic look!

The Laid Back Islander

Aloha!

If you follow me on Instagram you probably know that my hubby and I are in Hawaii! This is the first trip we have taken alone since having the baby! We miss baby Zara dearly, but its nice to have a few days of relaxation time. Not to mention, Zara is having a blast with her grandparents!

I call this style “the laid back islander.” I wore this outfit the first morning here for breakfast oceanside. I think slouchy printed pants are a perfect casual addition to any wardrobe. I usually pair them with a plain tee, a few popping accessories, and pretty sandals. It is a casual look without forgoing fashion!
